More cases of African swine fever confirmed in Russia

Three more cases of African swine fever were recorded in Russia, including one in St. Petersburg on Jan. 9, the country’s agriculture ministry said.

The other two cases were registered in the Lomonosov district of the Leningrad region on Dec. 29 and in the Krasnogvardeisky district of the Stavropol region on Jan. 2, the ministry said today in a statement on its website.

Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik held a video conference today with veterinary officials of affected regions and ordered measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
